Everyone has their favourite place for effective rest. It may be a beautiful beach somewhere between the dunes, a park bench hidden at a charming pond, a spring meadow filled with beautiful blooming flowers, or a cosy area in their own apartment. Regardless of where you like to rest the most, it is a good idea to create such “oasis of relaxation and rest” in your home, in which you can loosen up without going to more distant locations. How can you do it? Furniture with the relaxation function will certainly help to achieve this.
Furniture with the relaxation function

What is the relaxation function in upholstered furniture? It is the ability to change the angle of backrest and footrest (lower seat section) and adjust it to the most suitable position. This way, we can rest in both sitting and reclining positions – it all depends on our preferred backrest angle and lower seat protrusion.
The relaxation function is available as an additional option for a sofa or corner sofa, configured with items of the Gala Collezione modular systems. Depending on the needs, one or more armchairs with relaxation functions can be added to your sofa or corner sofa. If there are multiple armchairs, each of them is unfolded independently, which means that every household member can set the armchair in a comfortable position of their choice.

By configuring a comfortable sofa or corner sofa using the selected modular system, you can decide yourself which functions will be used in the furniture item. An important advantage of modular furniture is that they you combine solid (non-folding) items with folding armchairs (with the relaxation function) and adjust their layout to the available space and your lifestyle. You can add a handy liquor cabinet with a container or lowered pouffes – like in the Belluno model, for example. This gives your sofa a more diverse and unique look.
Electric or manual? Which version to choose?
In most collections of Gala Collezione modular furniture, armchairs with the relaxation function are unfolded by electric means – a very convenient option that allows you to change the backrest and footrest angle without having to get up. All you need to do is gently touch the electric sensors or buttons hidden discreetly between the seats, and the armchair will unfolds as if by magic.

If your sofa is in the middle of the living room, you can choose the battery-powered version. Then you don’t have to connect it with a cable to an electrical socket. A fully charged battery is enough to unfold and fold the piece of furniture about 170 times. Armchairs with a manual relaxation function are unfolded manually, i.e. using your own muscles. Therefore, the electric version is clearly more convenient and easier to use. Sofas, corner sofas as well as separate armchairs can be equipped with the relaxation function. If you decide to choose an armchair with this solution, bear in mind that it should usually be placed at a certain distance from the wall to allow the maximum unfolding of the relaxation function.
Information on the minimum distance from the wall can be found on the furniture pictograms. Armchairs typically require a greater distance from the wall than sofas or corner sofas.
The relaxation function will certainly increase your comfort during rest. It gives you the ability to adjust the piece of furniture to the situation and preferred body position. If you want to relax while sitting – leave the armchair folded. Fold it partially if you wish to read a book or watch TV. If you feel like taking a nap in a reclining position, recline the backrest as much as possible and extend the footrest to let your legs rest comfortably after a long day
