Lounge furniture can be arranged in many ways in a living room. A large day room offers much more possibilities in this respect than a smaller living room an apartment. It is thus worth using it to design a space that meets the expectations of all household members and perfectly fits to the lifestyle of your family. How to arrange a large living room? In this case, you can certainly let your imagination run wild and allow yourself to be creative, as you are not limited by the size of the room.
3 + 2 + 1 sets will work well in a small living room. Their elements can be combined depending on the needs and available spaceYou can arrange your living room by choosing, for example, a large, impressive family-sized corner. You can also pick collections that allow you to freely compose two-seater sofas, three-seater sofas and armchairs.
Create a meeting spot for your family
One of the ways of arranging the space is to place the furniture in such a way as to create a family meeting centre. To do it, try arranging the furniture around a central point – a low table or a coffee table. This way you can all sit close to each other and have eye contact. In addition, it will provide a pleasant atmosphere during your afternoon chats and make it easier to spend free time together, for example during a family board game tournament. This arrangement of sofas and armchairs creates an atmosphere of free conversation and closeness.
Here are some examples of arrangements for a family meeting centre, composed of two-seater sofas, three-seater sofas and armchairs.
The starting point for arranging the space in your living room is the choice of the central point around which the furniture will be placed. It can be different elements depending on a room – sometimes it will be architectural elements such as a fireplace, recess window or French door. If you and your family enjoy watching TV together, the furniture in the family meeting centre can be directed towards the TV. You will then be able to organize joint evening film screenings or video game tournaments. The fireplace can also become an interesting focal point, which will further enhance the warm, homely atmosphere.
Something nice for everyone
If the members of your household have different hobbies, like to spend time in different ways and everyone needs their own space, an alternative way of arranging the living room is to create separate zones for different activities. You can arrange a cozy corner for solo relaxation, with a comfy armchair or a chaise lounge, a writing table and a lamp, where you will be able to relax while reading your favourite books or press.
In another part of the room, create a social conversation zone, organised around a small table, while in yet another part – a TV corner, i.e. a sofa in front of the TV. If there is a fireplace in your living room – put two armchairs in front of it, thus creating a very cosy place for private conversations.
This way, you divide the living room into zones, creating a space for conversation, entertainment and a reading corner. This will let you spend time together in one room, but everyone will be able to relax in their favourite way.
If you divide your living room into such zones, remember to ensure proper communication between them. Communication routes should run between them and not through them – this way the room arrangement will be more functional.
Build a climate with accessories
Also remember to choose accessories such as coffee tables, pouffes or decorative pillows. They will enrich the atmosphere of the room, while also playing a very functional role. You can use the pouffe as an additional piece of furniture for sitting or a comfortable footrest. Small tables set up between the armchairs will give your family and guests comfort while resting – they will have a place at hand where they can put a cup of tea or a piece of cake. A decorative pillow can be placed under the neck or lumbar region and, as a last resort, placed on the floor can also serve as a seat when more guests visit you.
Of course, how you arrange your living room depends on your needs, as well as the conditions of the room itself. It is much simpler when it has the shape of a regular square or rectangle. If the shape is irregular or the room L-shaped, dividing it into zones seems to be a more functional solution.
It is worthwhile for you to ask yourself before you start arranging your living room – what functions will it perform and how will you most often spend time in it? The living room can be used for relaxation, receiving guests, sharing meals with your family (then you should also plan a dining area there), for occasional sleeping, watching TV, having small family parties and many other activities. Think about it and choose the Lounge furniture that will best serve these functions.
